Island Peak stands at 6,160 meters and is one of the most popular and demanding trekking peaks in Nepal, located in the Khumbu (Everest) Himalayan range. Climbing Island Peak offers some of the most rewarding views and experiences in the region. Our itinerary includes a couple of extra days in the same location to help you acclimatize properly before the summit push.

The best time for Island Peak climbing is from early March to the end of May, and from early September to the end of December. You can customize your itinerary as per your schedule and preferences.

Island Peak Climbing Itinerary

01Day

    You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport and welcome by one of our representatives at the airport. He will then take you to your hotel in a private tourist bus/van. The rest of the day is free for you to rest. In the evening, you will meet with your guide and have a welcome dinner. Overnight in the hotel.
     

    02Day

       We will begin our day of course with the appetizing breakfast, and after that, we will go on the guided tour. We will visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As per our time, we will visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and three Durbar Squares. In the evening, we will have a pre-trip meeting where we will discuss the trip and check all the gears. Overnight in the hotel.
       

      03Day

         We will wake up early in the morning to take our flight to Lukla from Kathmandu Airport. If the weather will clear, we will get to see stunning views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest (8,848 m). Upon reaching Lukla, we will begin trekking towards Phakding. We will ascend on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River and trek for around two hours to reach Phakding village. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
         

        04Day

           We will follow a trail to the Dudh Koshi valley in the north. Further, we will cross two small suspension bridge and reach Monjo. Monjo is the entrance of the Sagarmatha National park. From here, we will ascend to Jhorsalle passing through beautiful waterfalls, small villages, and lovely forest of rhododendron, fir, and magnolia. Then, ascending steeply will finally lead us to Namche Bazaar. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
           

          05Day

             Today is our first acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is one of the biggest village of this entire region, and also the main residential area of Sherpa's. The whole day is free, we can go on the short excursion to Everest View Hotel from where we can get amazing views of Everest and other surrounding mountains. We will also stroll around the market and have some quality time. Overnight in the lodge.
             

            06Day

               We will begin trekking and reach Phunki. From here, we ascend towards Tengboche where we will visit the oldest and the biggest monastery of the Everest region. We will see stunning views of mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), and many more. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
               

              07Day

                 After having breakfast, we will begin our trek through a lush forest of rhododendron, conifers, and birch. Further, we will descend down to Debuche crossing Imja River and ascend to Pangboche. We will visit Pangboche monastery and continuing trekking towards Dingboche. We will stay overnight in Dingboche.
                 

                08Day

                   We will begin trekking through stone-walled fields and further trek on glacier moraine. We will be surrounded by mountains all around us. Further, the trail intersects by icy streams and lead us to Chhukung our last destination for the day. We will get to see fantastic views of Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m) and Amphu Labtsa (5,845 m) mountains from here. Overnight in Chhukung.
                   

                  09Day

                     We will begin ascending in the south and then turn east to join the main line of the valley. Further, we will trek on the winding path and continue our trek along a streamside. We will see Amphu Lapcha (5,845 m) route in the southeast. From here we will go on a criss-cross route through Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines to reach Island Peak Base Camp. We will stay overnight in the camp.
                     

                    10Day

                       Today is our rest day before the summit to Island Peak. We will get training on peak climbing techniques and the proper ways of using climbing gears. We will learn how to use ropes to go up and down. We will trek to high camp and return back to base camp as our acclimatization process. We will stay overnight in the camp.
                       

                      11Day

                         Today, we will wake up around 12-1 am and have breakfast. We will reach the summit before noon because in the afternoon strong winds will become the barrier for a successful summit. We will ascend gradually through sandy path that further changes into a grassy area and to a rugged path. As we will climb, we will trail gets narrow and become steep. Climbing over the rocky gully and several rocky steep paths, we will reach the summit. 

                        After spending some time at the summit, we will trek back to Chhukung where we will stay for a night.
                         

                        12Day

                           Today, we will descend the Imja Khola valley. The trail goes through Dingboche and descends further to Pangboche. We will see beautiful views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,501 m), Mt. Amadablam (6,856 m), and other mountains from the viewpoint. Upon reaching Tengboche, we will visit Tengboche monastery, the oldest and largest monastery of the Khumbu region. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
                           

                          13Day

                             We will descend through the hillside covered by juniper and rhododendron trees. We will then cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, and trek towards Dudh Koshi gorge. From here, we will descend through pine forest and reach Sansa. On the way, we may see wildlife like snow leopards, colorful pheasants, mountain goats, and many more. We will reach Namche Bazaar where we are going to stay for a night.
                             

                            14Day

                               We will begin trekking by crossing a suspension bridge. Further, we will trek through a dense forest of rhododendron and pine and reach Phakding. Trekking along the bank of Dudh Koshi River, we will reach Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla, we will have lunch and rest of the day is free to relax and explore the nearby areas. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
                               

                              15Day

                                 We will fly back to Kathmandu today after having morning tea. the flight will offer the last views of the Himalayas. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel.
                                 

                                16Day

                                   After having breakfast, we will check-out of the hotel. We will then move to the Tribhuvan International Airport for our flight back to our home.

                                    Una gran agencia!

                                    La verdad, que estamos muy contentos con los servicios del Gokul, sobretodo nos ha gustado mucho lo atento que ha estado durante todo el viaje por si teníamos problemas. Uno de nosotros perdió el pasaporte y gracias a sus gestiones pudimos recuperarlo, le estamos muy agradecidos. El trato ha sido muy amable, si nunca volvemos a hacer algo en Nepal, no dudaremos en contactar con el.
