An old way which was followed by Everest expeditions from the 1950, Everest Trekking via Jiri gives you the thrills of trekking in the Everest region. The densely populated middle hills and the high altitude magnificence of the Everest region, everything can be experience in this trekking route.

Starting from Jiri (1905m), this trail heads eastward through the forested hills of Soul and over the 3530m Lamajura Pass. Because the trekking route is less crowded, it’s a much better option to come through this route. Along the route lies the beautiful mountain scenarios that take your breath away. The dudh koshi calls us after we cross the Lamjura La pass, and Thaksindo, following the “Dudh Koshi river” north we walk through the small villages to join the main Everest trail below Lukla. The ascent to Namche Bazaar will be quite easy now after we've become familiar with the surrounding. The views become even more fascinating with every step we take-Kwangde,Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam. The trek follows from the Namche bazzar to the Gokyo Lake to Everest Base Camp. You should carry out Everest trekking via Jiri in beginning of March to end of May and beginning of September to end of December. You can choose the details of itinerary of Everest base camp trekking and make it as per your desire and holidays.

Trip Itinerary
01Day

    After having breakfast, we will begin to drive towards Jiri. Jiri is situated 187 km away from Kathmandu. The drive will be long and scenic.

    02Day

      From today our adventurous journey begins towards Everest. We will ascend through cultivated fields and small villages crossing forested area. Further, we will descend to Shivalaya and again ascend to reach Deurali.

      03Day

         We will begin trekking towards Bhandara, a small Sherpa village with various small gompas. From here, we descend to a riverside town of Kenja through lush green forest covered with beautiful rhododendrons. The trail further takes us to Sete where we will be staying for a night.

        04Day

           Today, we are going to see the first glimpse of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) from the Lamjura Pass located at an elevation of 3500 meters. The trail goes through aromatic oak and pine forest. From here, we will descend down towards Junbesi, one of the largest Sherpa villages where we see wonderful views of Gaurishankar and Dudh Kunda.

          05Day

             We will trek to Soulung ridge, and further, descend down to Ringmo Khola. We will see Ringmo Khola covered with numerous apple trees. From here, we descend to Nunthala crossing forest and Traksindo La located at an elevation of 3071 meters.

            06Day

               We will descend all the way down tot he Dudh Koshi River, the largest river of the trek. From here, we will ascend through several small Sherpa and Rai villages, terraced fields, and forests to reach Khari Khola village.

              07Day

                 Today, we will begin trekking after having a warm breakfast. We will ascend through Sherpa village and a forest inhabited by numerous monkeys. Further, we climb on a steep trail and descend through the Dudh Kosi canyon to reach Puiyan.

                08Day

                   The trail today includes an hour-long ascend to Puiyan ridge located at an elevation of 2,800 meters. We will ascend slowly along the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. The trail will present us beautiful views of Mt. Nupla (5,885 m), Kusum Kanguru (6,367 m), Kwongde Range, and other mountains. From here, another two hours walk will take us to Phakding Village where we will be staying for a night.

                  09Day

                     We will trek on the Dudh Koshi valley in north going through pines. We will cross small suspension bridges twice and reach Monjo, the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. From here, we ascend towards Jhorsalle and further trek through fir, rhododendron, and magnolia forests. We will then again ascend steeply all the way up to the Namche Bazar. Upon reaching here, we will get to see the first glimpse of the Himalayas.

                    10Day

                       Today is our acclimatization day in Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is one of the biggest settlements in the Khumbu region. We will find several bookstores, coffee shops, and souvenirs shops here. We will go on a short hike to Khumjung which, is a Sherpa village. We will get to see amazing views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt. Thamserku (6,623 m), and many more. After spending some time here, we will trek back to Namche Bazar.

                      11Day

                         We will begin ascending along with the beautiful views of the Himalayas. We will also get to see wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Thar, pheasant on our way. We will reach Khumjung after few descends and ascends. Further, we again descend and cross Dudh Koshi River and ascend through rhododendron forest to reach Phortse Thanga.

                        12Day

                           We will begin ascending steeply to Dole through birch and rhododendron forest. On the way, we will see stunning views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Kantega (6,782 m), and Thamserku (6,623 m). Further, we will trek on a rugged trek with few dwarf rhododendrons. We will walk along the Dudh Koshi through some small settlements and reach Machhermo where we will be going to stay for a night.

                          13Day

                             We will begin ascending through a ridge chorten from where we can see the magnificent views of down the valley and of the Mt. Kangtega (6,782 m), Thamserku(6,623 m), and northern part to the Cho-Oyu (8,201 m). Further, we will cross a bridge over a stream cross the first lake, Longpongo. From here we will continue trekking and cross the second lake, Taboche Tsho and then the third lake, Dudh Pokhari. Gokyo village stands by the third lake, which is also our ultimate destination for today. 

                            14Day

                               Today, we will explore Gokyo, visit lakes, and hike to Gokyo Ri. We will begin our steep climb to reach the top. We will see Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal and the panoramic view of snow-capped mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), and many more. We will then witness glorious fourth lake, Thonak Tsho and the fifth lake, Ngozuma Tsho. 

                              15Day

                                 Today, we trek towards Thagnak. The trail takes us to Cho La from where we will see panoramic views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and Cholatse (6,440 m). If we are lucky, we may get to see the glimpse of Himalayan Thar on the rocky slopes. We will stay overnight in the camp.

                                16Day

                                   Today the trail will be a little challenging than other days. If the weather is stable we can cross Cho-la Pass (5,367 m) without any special gear. We will trek around the ridge and reach Dzongla where we are going to stay for a night. We will stay overnight in the camp.

                                  17Day

                                     We will trek above the village of Chola and leave Cholatse Lake behind us. Further, we ascend and see Mt. Nuptse in front of us rising above Khumbu Glacier. From here, we will join the busy trail of Thyangboche to Lobuche where we will see a huge crowd of people and yaks. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

                                    18Day

                                       After having breakfast, we will continue our trek towards the left bak of Khumbu glacier. Further, we will ascend steeply until we reach  Changri glacier, and a short descend from here will take us to Gorak Shep. We will take a small break here and continue trekking towards Everest Base Camp. After spending some quality time soaking the beautiful views, we will trek back to Gorak Shep.

                                      19Day

                                         We will wake up early in the morning and trek towards Kala Pattar. Upon reaching here, we will get to see 360-degree views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) and other surrounding mountains. We will see the gorgeous sunrise from here. After spending some time here, we will trek back to Pheriche.

                                        20Day

                                           The trail goes through Dingboche and descends further to Pangboche. We will see beautiful views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,501 m), Mt. Amadablam (6,856 m), and other mountains from the viewpoint. Upon reaching Tengboche, we will visit Tengboche monastery, the oldest and largest monastery of the Khumbu region. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

                                          21Day

                                             Today, we are going to trek back to Namche Bazaar. The trail will take us to Dingboche, and from there we will descend gradually towards Namche Bazaar. We will trek along with the views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Thamserku (6,623 m), and many more. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

                                            22Day

                                               Along with the views of mountains like Mt. Nupla, Kusum Kanguru, Kwongde Range, and many others, we will descend to the Dudh Koshi River. We will again descend for an hour long and reach Phakding where we will be going to stay for a night.

                                              23Day

                                                 Trekking along the bank of Dudh Koshi River, we will reach Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla, we will have lunch and rest of the day is free to relax and explore the nearby areas. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

                                                24Day

                                                   We will fly back to Kathmandu today after having morning tea. The flight will offer the last views of the mighty Himalayas. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will be move to our hotel. The rest of the day is free for us to relax and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel.
