In the early days of 1969, the park was set aside as a royal hunting reserve; the following year, plans were ongoing to establish a conservation area, which took the name of the first Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve in the year 1976. Later in 1988 the reserve area was extended to cover the Babai Valley and upgraded to be named Bardia National Park. The total park area has covered 986 sq. km. This is the largest national park in Nepal’s lowland.
The Bardia National Park provides an extensive variety of experiences for the Bardia jungle safari adventure tour in its cosmic peaceful wilderness. Approximately 70% of the forest consists of giant sal trees with a mixture of soaring grassland and mixed-type riverine forest. The dense forest is home for several endangered animals, such as the Royal Bengal tiger, wild elephant, wild boar, wild beer, rare one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, and a variety of beautiful birds. The additional endangered species include the rare freshwater genetic dolphin, marsh mugger, gharial crocodile, and many fishes as marine life.
For your unforgettable holiday, it is accessible by a short one-hour flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. From Kathmandu and Pokhara by bus, it's approximately a 12-hour journey. Another best way to visit there is a very logical combination with the 10-day excellent adrenaline Karnali River rafting trip.
The best time for Bardia Jungle Safari is the beginning of March to the end of May and the beginning of September to the end of December. You can choose the details of itineraries as per your desire and holidays for the Bardia Jungle Safari.
