Tibet Overland Tour is a perfect adventurous trip for travelers who want to travel on a budget and also have not much time to spend. You will take a flight or train to Lhasa from Kathmandu. The flight will provide you stunning views of Himalayan mountains, monasteries, high mountain passes, fortresses, and beautiful landscapes. This trip will take you to the world famous Everest Base Camp from where you will get to see stunning views of world’s highest mountains.

You will begin your trip with a breath-taking flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. You will get to see Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), and Mt. Everest (8,848 m) during your flight. After arriving in Lhasa, you will go on the Lhasa tour. We will visit the famous Drepung Monastery, Potala and Norbulingka palaces, and Jokhang Temple. You will explore the colorful and crowded Tibetan market,  the Barkhor Bazaar. Further, you will drive towards the historic town of Gyantse where you will see beautiful multi-storied Kumbum Stupa. On the way, you will also stop by the gorgeous turquoise lake and spend some quality time traversing nearby surroundings.

With us, you will also visit Shalu and Sakya Monasteries, which is rarely visited by the tourist. Further, you will drive above the Himalayas on the historical Arniko Highway that connects Kathmandu with Lhasa. You will again get to witness giant Himalayan mountains throughout the drive. You will enter the land of rich subtropical forest and racing streams. From here, you will descend steeply into the Bhote Koshi Gorge towards Nepal. You will reach Zangmu, which is a Tibet and Nepal border. You will have your farewell dinner here, and from here onwards, you will to Kathmandu through the terraced countryside. Trip Itinerary
01Day

    We will arrive at Lhasa by taking flight from Nepal. The flight will present stunning views of the world's highest mountains including Mt. Everest (8,848m) and Kanchenjunga (8,586m). Upon reaching Lhasa airport, we will move to our hotel. We will rest for the entire left day. 

    02Day

       We will go on the guided sightseeing tour after having breakfast. The first landmark that we will visit is Potala Palace, which is the winter palace of Dalai Lama. From here, we will see the entire view of Lhasa town. Next, we will visit Norbulingka Palace, the summer palace of Dalai Lama situated at a short distance to the southwest of Potala Palace. Later, we will visit the Tibet Museum situated directly below the Potala Palace where we will get to know the history of Tibet.

      03Day

         Today is our second day of sightseeing in Lhasa. We will visit Drepung Monastery, built in the 14th century. It is also the world's largest monastery sheltered by 10,000 monks in the past.  After that, we will visit beautiful Sera monastery with whitewashed walls and golden roofs. We will visit this monastery to see monks debating. Later, we will visit  Jokhang Temple, another important site that unravels many mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. In the evening, we will explore Barkhor Bazaar filled with open stalls, shops, and crowds of pilgrims.

        04Day

           We will take a scenic drive to Gyantse via Karo La Pass. We will take a short break here to see the beauty of Yamdrok Tso Lake. It is one of the three largest lakes of Tibet. We will also see stunning Nazin Kang Sang glacier (7,252m). Further, during the drive, we will enjoy the views of several huge glaciers. Upon reaching Gyantse, we will visit Gyantse Dzong (fortress), Khumbum Stupa, and Phalkot Monastery.

          05Day

             We will wake up early in the morning, and begin our drive towards Shigatse, the largest city of Tibet. On the way, we will visit Shalu Monastery, built in 1040 A.D. After reaching Shigatse, we will visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, the home of the Panchen Lama. This monastery was founded by first Dalai Lama in 1449 A.D. and holds significant importance. The rest of the is free to rest.

            06Day

               We will drive to Rongbuk through several beautiful villages. We will see the glimpse of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) from the foot of Gyatso la pass (5220m). On the way, we will stop at Sakya Monastery, the ancestral temple of the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Further, crossing the Lalung La Pass, we will reach  Rongbuk Monastery. This monastery is located at the foot of the world famous Everest. We will get to see the panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other surrounding mountains from here.

              07Day

                 We will wake up early in the morning and drive towards Everest Base Camp (5,250 m). In the Tibetan language, Everest is known as Mt. Chomolungma. The drive will offer gorgeous views of the mountain landscape. Upon reaching EBC, we will see spectacular views of Rongbuk glacier. After spending some time at Everest Base Camp, we will leave for Kerong. Here pilgrims stop to hang the prayer flags, burn incense and throw prayer notes into the air. 

                08Day

                   It's time to return back to our home. Completing the border formalities, we will drive to Kathmandu through connecting highway of Tibet Nepal. We will go through small towns like  Trishuli, Dhunche, Syabrubesi, and Rasuwagadhi to reach Kathmandu. On the way, we will see lush green forest, waterfalls, rivers, gorges, hills, and mountains.
