Ghalegaun Trek is newly open trekking trail in the Annapurna Region. This trek is also popularly known as Ghale Gaun Homestay Trek. Ghalegaun is located in the north central part of Nepal at the foothill of Lamjung Himal. This trek will take you to the typical Nepali villages mainly resided by Gurungs, Magars, and Rais. You will get to have deep insights into the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the locals as you will be living with them throughout your trek. Moreover, to welcome you, locals will perform their cultural dances like Rodhi, Thode, Serka, Sorathi, and Ghatu. The trek will take you to 2,100 meters through the stunning views of Annapurna Ranges (8,091 m) and gorgeous sceneries. 

Your trek begins with a scenic drive to Besisahar. The route goes through highway following Trishuli River. Upon reaching Besisahar, you will trek towards Khudi and ascend all the way up to the Ghale Gaun. You will be welcome with the ancient traditional dance od the locals. Further, the journey takes you to Ghan Pokhara, which is another Gurung village. Crossing several beautiful villages, fertile fields, dense forests, and many waterfalls, you will reach your next destination Baghungpani. From here, you will trek to Laxmi Bazar, and continue your walk towards Begnas Lake. Here, you will take a short break to have lunch, and if you want, you can also do boating on this Lake. You will drive to Pokhara, and spend a day here strolling around the famous Lakeside and fly/drive back to Kathmandu and your trip ends. This is an ideal trip for you if you want to experience Nepalese tradition and culture closely along with the gorgeous nature.

Trip Itinerary
01Day

    We will drive to Besisahar after having breakfast. The route goes through highway following Trishuli River. We will cross Trishuli River in Muglin and further follow Marshyangdi River passing several Gurung, Magar and other villages. We will reach Besisahar, the District Head Quarter of Lamjung. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

    02Day

       We will begin trekking towards the northwest of Khudi along the bank of the river. The trail will go through several beautiful villages, fertile fields, dense forests, and many waterfalls. After a short ascend, we will reach Ghale Gaun, which is mainly resided by Gurung's. We will stay overnight at homestay.

      03Day

         The trail leads us t Ghan Pokhara another Gurung village. Further, we will cross several traditional villages, fertile land and trek on the zigzag trail to reach Baghungpani. Upon reaching here, we will freshen up and explore the area. We will stay overnight in the homestay.

        04Day

           Leaving behind beautiful Baglung Pani village, we will trek towards the village of  Laxmi Bazaar located at 1,345 meters from the sea level.  Laxmi Bazaar is a small bazar. We will trek for around 5-6 hours to reach this place. Overnight at the homestay.

          05Day

             Today is the last day of the trek. After walking for around three hours, we will reach the gorgeous Begnas Lake. We will take a small break here, and have our lunch. If we want we can do boating as well. From here, we will drive to Lakeside, Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, we will rest for a while and later go on the sightseeing tour. Overnight in the hotel.

            06Day
              07Day

                 We have both options to drive or fly back to Kathmandu. If we are flying to Kathmandu, we will get to see stunning views of the Himalayas including Annapurna Range (8,091 m). Whereas, the drive will be scenic and presents gorgeous views of green hills, rivers, and small settlements.

                Useful Information

                You can minimize the trek for one day if you come back to Kathmandu form Begnash lake.  Can hire a car and come back to kathmandu directly too.
