Gosainkunda Trekking is the combination of Kathmandu along the border of Tibet Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu. In between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south, this trek is an opportunity to explore villages, to climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at a low altitude. You can also trek to Langtang by returning to Kathmandu via the holy lakes of Gosainkunda at 4300 meters. The lake which is sacred to Buddhists and Hindus both is the largest of three main lakes the other two being Saraswatikunda and Bhairabkunda.
The lake which is supposed to have formed when the God Siva plunged his trident (Trisul) into the ground in order to obtain water is a very beautiful lake and looks especially beautiful in the morning time. The Trisuli River is named after the lakes since it's source is in the three lakes. The view from Gosainkunda valley the really amazing and if you have enough time, you can continue to Helambu village for your Gosainkunda trekking but most of the Gosainkunda trekkers, head back to Dhunche to catch a bus back to Kathmandu. The best time to Gosainkunda trekking is beginning of March to end of May and beginning of September to end of December. You can choose the details of itinerary as per your desire and holidays.
Trip Itinerary
01Day
You will be met by our airport representative and transferred to the hotel by our private tourist vehicle. You have the free evening and overnight at hotel.
02Day
After breakfast we will organize a pre-departure meeting for providing the detail information about your tour and treks by our leaders. During our meeting clear all the remaining dues if any, bring 3 copies of passport size photos, copy of your passport and travel insurance policy. Please feel free to ask any queries with our leaders related to your trekking regions. After meeting, our excellent tour guide will take you for Kathmandu valley sightseeing in private tourist vehicle. During the tour, you will visit major historical, cultural and religious centre of Kathmandu valley including Swyambhunath Stupa(The Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa and Pasupatinath Temple. Our tour guide will explain you about the cultural,historical and religious importance of these places in brief during the tour. You will be transferred to hotel after your tour. Overnight at hotel.
03Day
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi by bus, a journey of about 8 hours. Travel through scenic foothills, with ridgeline vistas. Continue along the shore of the Trishuli River and enjoy views of the terraces and hills of Ganesh Himal. Pass through Dhunche before checking into your guesthouse accommodation in Sybru Bensi.
04Day
Today you will trek from Syabru Besi to the Lama Hotel, crossing through the Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola. Climb up to Bamboo passing landslides, before trekking gently down to Rimche. Continue on to the Lama Hotel, looking out for monkeys and bears along the way.
05Day
Continue your trek, heading towards Langtang village via Ghore Tabela, where the trail emerges from the forest and climbs gently as the valley widens. Pass some of the temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer. Pass a monastery just before you arrive at Langtang in the Langtang National Park.
06Day
Trek to Kyangjin Gompa along a trail that climbs gradually through small villages and yak pasture. Navigate small streams and moraines to reach the settlement at Kyangjin. Marvel at the dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding all directions. Overnight at a guesthouse and acclimitize to the altitude.
07Day
Enjoy a day of rest, acclimitizing to the conditions, with gentle explorations of the Kyangjin Gompa.
08Day
Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to the Lama Hotel, retracing your route following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village, and on to Ghora Tabela. Continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel after lunch.
09Day
Continue to Thulo Syabru. A gentle descent at the start of the trail takes you up to a landslide, then climbs steeply to Thulo Syabru. Look for red pandas and monkeys en route, as well as various species of birds. Enjoy the magnificent nature and views of Ganesh Himal and the mountain ranges of Langtang Himal.
10Day
Today you will trek through oak, fir and hemlock forest to Sing Gompa, enjoying views of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal along the way. Pass yak cheese farms, and more.
11Day
Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda, gently climbing up to Lauribinayak before a steep ascent all the way to Gosaikunda. The rugged trail provides dramatic views of Himal Chuli, and the mountain ranges of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal, as well as the Annapurna range on clear days. Hike the high pasture of Laurebinayak for your first views of the holy lakes of the Gosaikunda Basin. According to legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier to obtain water to quench his thirst after swallowing a poison that threatened to destroy the world.
12Day
Cross the Laurebina Yak Pass and trek on to Ghopte, with views down to the forested glen.
13Day
Continue your mountain adventure with a trek to Melamchi Gaon via the Tharepati Pass, passing through rhododendron and juniper forests.
14Day
Trek to Tarkeghyang getting closer to the valley floor, where the land is more easily cultivated. Check into your guesthouse for an overnight stay.
15Day
Continue down into the Helambu Valley en route to the beautiful Sherpa settlement of Shermathang, boasting many ancient monasteries.
16Day
Trek through forests of rhododendron and pine before the land turns to cultivated fields, en route to the Melamchi Pul Bazaar and the end of your epic trekking adventure.
17Day
Drive back to Kathmandu from Melamchi Pul Bazaar for the end of the tour services.
18Day
